Soccer battles to a draw with Ferrum

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College soccer team battled to a scoreless tie with Ferrum College today in a game that saw 2 overtimes. Salem snapped a 4-game win streak that Ferrum brought into the game. Taylor Barcom (Anchorage, AK) recorded a shutout for the Spirits with 9 saves. Salem moves to 5-2-1 on the season, and Ferrum moves to 4-3-1.

The Spirits controlled much of the play for the first 75 minutes of the match, and did a good job of not allowing Ferrum to score during the last 35 minutes. Salem out shot Ferrum 17-16, and they had a 12-9 on goal shot advantage. Ferrum had a 5-3 corner kick advantage.

Salem returns to the road to play a very important conference match at Maryville on September 28th.
