Soccer cruises to 7-0 win at Peace

Raleigh, NC-The Salem College soccer team cruised to a 7-0 road non-conference win at Peace today. The Spirits went their second straight game without giving up a shot. Anna Trakas (Tryon, NC) had two goals for Salem. The Spirits improve to 7-3-1 on the season.

Erica Edwards (Raleigh, NC) got the scoring started just 55 seconds into the game on an assist by Bethany Kent (Manassas, VA). Sabrina Thiel (Columbus, OH) scored on a direct kick, and MacKenzie Schmidt (Columbus, OH) finished off the first-half scoring off an assist by Amanda Orsino (Sauqouit, NY).

The Spirits scored three quick second-half goals. Trakas scored the first two, which were assisted by Kent and Thiel on the first and Schmidt on the second. Orsino scored right after from a pass by Edwards. Amy Allison (Geneva, OH) scored her first goal of her career on her own corner kick to finish the scoring.

Salem outshot the Pacers 49-0, including 30 shots on goal. They also had a 9-0 corner kick advantage. Jessi Carter (Tampa, FL) had her second straight shutout in goal.

The Spirits return to action at home next Saturday in a very important conference match against Piedmont College at 2:00.
