Montgomery, AL-The Salem College soccer team survived the long ride to Alabama to defeat Huntingdon College 1-0 in a Great South Athletic Conference match. Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC) scored on a corner kick by Anna Trakas (Tryon, NC) midway through the fast half, and Salem controlled the play for the entire remainder of the match. The Spirits move to 4-1 overall and to 1-0 in the Great South, while Huntingdon falls to 2-2-1.
Hubbard scored in the 24th minute of the match. The Spirits out shot Huntingdon 26-5, and had a 9-0 corner kick advantage.
Salem returns to action tomorrow when they travel to Asheville to take on Warren Wilson in a non-conference game.
