Raleigh, NC-The Salem College soccer team struggled in its first match of the season with a 4-0 loss at Meredith. Meredith scored two first-half goals that set the pace for the game. Salem falls to 0-1, while Meredith improves to 1-1.

Sawyer Ferguson (Billings, MT) led the Spirits with 5 shots. Jessi Carter (Tampa, FL) had 11 saves in her first match in goal for the Spirits.

Salem returns to action tomorrow in their second match at the Meredith Classic against Guilford at 3:15.
