Soccer clinches first-ever #1 seed in Great South Tournament

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College soccer team clinched the school's first-ever #1 seed in a Great South Tournament with a 2-0 victory today against Agnes Scott. Paige Ketchum (Jacksonville, NC) and the Salem defense earned their 6th straight shutout in the victory. The Spirits improved to 13-3 overall with the victory, and to 7-1 in the Great South.

Sawyer Ferguson (Billings, MT) scored her 15th goal of the season, which ties her for the single-season record at Salem College. She also scored her 7th game-winning goal. Taylor Norman (Springfield, VA) had the assist on the goal in the 5th minute. Tarryn Bundy (West Deptford, NJ) scored in the 36th minute on an assist by Ferguson.

Salem out shot the Scotties 16-3, and they had a 5-1 corner kick advantage. Ketchum finished with 3 saves.

The Spirits return to action next weekend for their final 2 regular season matches of the year against Huntingdon and Wesleyan at home.
