Soccer defeats Spelman 4-0 to move to championship game

Decatur, GA-The Salem College soccer team stormed by Spelman 4-0 in the Great South Tournament semifinals. Taylor Norman (Springfield, VA) had a goal and 2 assists in the win. The Spirits won their 16th game, which is a new record for wins in a season and they are currently 16-3.

Sawyer Ferguson (Billings, MT) scored her 19th goal of the season in the 18th minute on an assist by Norman. Sataj Johnson (Corona, CA) scored in the 29th minute on another assist by Norman. Norman would score 5 minutes later on an assist by Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC). The Spirits were leading 3-0 at half.

Bethany Kent (Manassas, VA) scored the final goal in the 50th minute. Paige Ketchum (Jacksonville, NC) and Jessi Carter (Tampa, FL) split time in goal for the shutout. The Spirits played 30 players in the semifinal match.

They will play Agnes Scott, who defeated Huntingdon 1-0, in the championship game on Sunday at 1:00.
