Soccer earns 5th straight shutout in 5-0 win against Spelman

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College soccer team earned their 5th straight shutout in a 5-0 Great South win against Spelman. Tarryn Bundy (West Deptford, NJ) scored twice in the win. Salem improves to 11-3 overall and 5-1 in the Great South.

Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC) started the scoring out early in the 10th minute on an assist by Bethany Kent (Manassas, VA). Kent would assist Bundy on a corner kick only 2 minutes later. Sabrina Thiel (Hillsboro, OH) drilled a 30 yard shot in the 26th minute on a pass from Taylor Norman (Springfield, VA). Norman scored in the 29th minute from the same distance from an assist by MacKenzie Schmidt (Columbus, OH).

Bundy finished off the scoring in the 56th minute. Salem saw action from 29 different players in the win. The Spirits out shot the Jaguars 11-3, and had a 2-0 corner kick advantage. Paige Ketchum (Jacksonville, NC) earned the complete game shutout.

The Spirits return to action on Tuesday the 16th in another home Great South match against Covenant at 4:00.
