Soccer moves one game away from GSAC Regular Season Championship

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College soccer team moved 1 game away from winning the 1st Great South Regular Season Championship in school history. Sawyer Ferguson (Billings, MT) scored twice and assisted another, which put her in 1st all-time at Salem for goals and points in a season. Salem improves to 14-3 overall and 8-1 in the Great South.

The win was the 7th straight shutout for Salem, and Paige Ketchum (Jacksonville, NC) had 1 save in goal. Ferguson scored in the 26th minute for her 8th game winning goal of the season on a pass from Taylor Norman (Springfield, VA). She assisted Sataj Johnson (Corona, CA) 2 minutes later to give the Spirits a 2-0 advantage at the break.

Ferguson scored 2 minutes into the 2nd half on a pass by MacKenzie Schmidt (Columbus, OH). Bethany Kent (Manassas, VA) finished off the scoring in the 64th minute on a pass from Michelle Lawler (Gibsonville, NC).

Salem out shot the Hawks 18-1 and had a 6-0 corner kick advantage. They finish their regular season tomorrow at home against Wesleyan College at 1:00.
