Soccer reaches 10th win at Wesleyan

Macon, GA- The Salem College soccer team earned their 10th win of the season today on the road in a 4-0 victory against Wesleyan College.

Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, N.C.) scored two goals and the Spirits out shot the Pioneers 38-0. Salem improves to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the Great South. This is the 4th straight season Salem soccer has reached at least 10 wins.

Sawyer Ferguson (Billings, MT) started the scoring in the 36th minute off of a pass from Mackenzie Schmidt (Columbus, OH).  The goal was Ferguson’s 6th game-winning goal, which is a new Salem College single-season record.

Hubbard scored her first goal in the 47th minute off of another assist from Schmidt.  She would score again 10 minutes later from a pass by Ferguson. 

The Spirits final goal was an own goal by the Pioneers off of a cross by Sabrina Thiel (Hillsboro, OH).

Jessi Carter (Tampa, FL) earned a complete game shutout in goal, which was the 3rd shutout in a row for Salem. Salem also had a 12-0 corner kick advantage.

Salem finishes their last 5 games of the season at home. They start with Spelman College next Saturday at 2:00 pm.
