Soccer wins Great South match 3-0 at Huntingdon

Montgomery, AL-The Salem College soccer team defeated Huntingdon College 3-0 today in Great South action.  Sataj Johnson (Corona, CA) scored the game-winning goal in the 7th minute.  The Spirits improve to 9-3 overall and to 3-1 in the GSAC. 

Johnson’s goal came off of an assist by Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC).  Taylor Norman (Springfield, VA) scored 20 minutes later on a volley from 30 yards out.  Sawyer Ferguson (Billings, MT) capped off the scoring in the 67th minute off a pass by Mackenzie Schmidt (Columbus, OH).

Salem outshot the Hawks 23-2 and had 14 shots on goal.  They also had an 8-1 corner kick advantage.  Paige Ketchum (Jacksonville, NC) had her 2nd straight shutout in goal. 

The Spirits return to action in another GSAC match tomorrow at Wesleyan College in Georgia.
