Soccer wins in overtime at Ferrum

Ferrum, VA- Salem College soccer team defeated Ferrum College 2-1 in

overtime. Tarryn Bundy (West Deptford, NJ) had one goal and assisted on the game-winning goal. The Spirits improve to 5-2 with the win.

The Spirits controlled a large portion of the game, including a 23-7 shot advantage and a 10-1 corner advantage. Bundy started the scoring with a goal in the 11th minute on an assist by Mackenzie Schmidt (Columbus, OH). Ferrum equalized the game in the 24th minute. The game went into the break tied 1-1.

The second half was scoreless, despite the Spirits possessing the ball much of the half and out-shooting the Panthers 6-2.  Salem knocked on the door for a goal throughout the first overtime, before Sawyer Ferguson (Billings, MT) finished a Bundy cross. The goal was Ferguson’s 4th game-winning goal of the year.

Salem returns to action this weekend when they travel to Agnes Scott. The game will be played Saturday at 1:00.
