Hubbard wins Great South Soccer Player of the Week

The Great South Athletic Conference has announced the fall sports week 8 Players of the week and, following voting by the league sports information directors, student-athletes from Agnes Scott and Salem won the awards.

GSAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week - Stephanie Hubbard of Salem

Stephanie Hubbard, a senior from Sanford, NC scored a goal in a 6-0 win against Ferrum. In her last senior home game, she suffered a serious knee injury in the first half, but not before she helped Salem clinch the Great South Regular Season Championship. Hubbard will conclude her soccer career as the most distinguished athlete in Salem history to date.

 

GSAC Volleyball Player of the Week - Morgan Bender of Agnes Scott

Senior outside hitter Morgan Bender had a great week as they Scotties won two matches. In a 3-1 win over Huntingdon College, Bender racked up a season high of 15 kills (.209 pct). She added two service aces and 14 digs.  In a 3-0 win over Salem College, Bender recorded 11 kills and a .241 attack pct. She also had one service ace and seven digs.

 

 

There were no nominees for GSAC Cross Country Runner of the Week.

 

The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released eachWednesday morning.
