Soccer improves to 4-0 in Great South action

October 20, 2013

Macon, GA-The Salem College soccer team continued their hot play with a 4-0 win at Georgia Wesleyan to complete the series sweep. Taylor Norman (Fairfax, VA) netted her first career hat-trick in the win. Salem improves to 11-3-2 overall and 4-0 against Great South opponents, while Wesleyan falls to 8-5.

The Spirits dominated the first half with a 21-1 shot advantage, but they couldn't find the back of the net. They quickly changed that with four goals in 25 minutes to start the second half.

Sawyer Ferguson (Billings, MT) got the game-winning goal in the 53rd minute. Norman scored her first goal off an assist by Nataly Mojica (Dallas, TX) three minutes later. In the 66th minute, Bethany Kent (Manassas, VA) assisted Norman. She finished her hat trick with another assisted goal by Mojica in the 71st minute.

Paige Ketchum (Jacksonville, NC) earned the shutout in goal. Salem out-shot Wesleyan 38-2, and they had an 8-0 corner kick advantage.

The Spirits finish out the regular season with two home games against Ferrum on Tuesday and Agnes Scott on Saturday.
