Soccer scores 4 early goals to cruise to win at Chowan

Murfreesboro, NC-The Salem College soccer team cruised to a 4-0 win against NCAA DII Chowan University. The Spirits scored all of their goals in the first 23 minutes of the match. MacKenzie Schmidt (Columbus, OH) finished with two goals in the win. Salem improves to 6-3-2 overall.

Taylor Norman (Fairgax, VA) scored only 2:33 into the game off an assist by Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC). Schmidt scored seven minutes later on a pass by Nataly Mojica (Dallas, TX). Mojica assisted a Hubbard header goal in the 21st minute. Schmidt finished off the scoring in the 24th minute off a cross by Bethany Kent (Manassas, VA). 

The Spirits had 43 shots to only 5 by Chowan, and Salem had 24 shots on goal. Paige Ketchum (Jacksonville, NC) and Kenzie Rathe (Cloquet, MN) each played a half in goal to split the shutout. Salem had a 6-2 corner kick advantage. 

Salem returns to action tomorrow in the nation's capital as they play Trinity Washington at 4:30.
