Soccer wins 3-0 at home against WV Tech

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College soccer team dominated play in a 3-0 win against West Virginia Tech. Steph Hubbard (Sanford, NC) scored the game winning goal for the Spirits. Salem improves to 4-1-2 with the win. 

"We have to get better at finishing our opportunities," said Head Coach Jay Callahan. "We had a much better second half, but we need to start stronger."

Hubbard scored in the 50th minute on an assist by Bethany Kent (Mannassas, VA). Tarryn Bundy (West Deptford, NJ) scored seven minutes later with an assist by Hubbard. MacKenzie Schmidt (Columbus, OH) finished the scoring in the 66th minute. Kenzie Rathe (Cloquet, MN) had the shutout in goal for Salem.

Salem out-shot WV Tech 27-2 for the game. They also had a 9-1 corner kick advantage.

The Spirits return home on Tuesday when they host Bridgewater at 4:30.
