Soccer wins big at USC-Lancaster

Lancaster, SC-The Salem College soccer team won their fourth game in a row with a 7-1 win at USC-Lancaster. The game was called after 71 minutes, and Salem scored all 7 of their goals in the first 40 minutes. Liz Smetana (Harvard, MA) scored in the 40th minute. Salem improves to 9-3-2 overall.

MacKenzie Schmidt (Columbus, OH) scored two goals in the first three minutes. Both of those goals were assisted by Tarryn Bundy (West Deptford, NJ). Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC) scored on a corner kick by Nataly Mojica (Dallas, TX) in the 10th minute. Sawyer Ferguson (Billings, MT) scored in the 20th minute on an assist by Taylor Norman (Fairfax, VA) and Deanna Andrews (Climax, NC). Andrews would score a few seconds later on an assist by Summer Rich (Morehead City, NC). Victoria Chaffers (Deltona, FL) added a goal in the 30th minute on an assist by Amber Lee (Summerville, SC). Smetana's goal in the 40th minute was assisted by Rich.

Kenzie Rathe (Cloquet, MN) earned the win in the goal and she played the entire 90 minutes. Salem out-shot Lancaster 26-5 and had a 7-1 corner kick advantage.

The Spirits return to action next Friday when they play Judson at Wesleyan College in Macon,GA.
