Clark, Nivens Compete in Season Finale at Warren Wilson

SWANNANOA, N.C. – The Salem swim team wrapped up its third meet of the week on Saturday, February 5th, when it competed in a four-team meet hosted by Warren Wilson in Swannanoa, N.C.

Salem was represented at the meet by Olivia Nivens and Kylie Clark in five events over the course of the afternoon.

Nivens opened the meet with a sixth-place finish for Salem in the 200 freestyle, touching the wall in 2:44.85. She bookended competition with a seventh-place performance in the 500 freestyle, posting a time of 8:05.88, which resulted in her personal-best time. Her previous best in the 500 freestyle (8:08.97) came earlier this week against Pfeiffer in Meisenheimer.

Clark swam in three events for Salem, including the 50 freestyle, where she finished eighth with a mark of 36.71. That time was 3.89 seconds faster than her previous season high (40.60), which came at the Pfeiffer Dual earlier this week. She quickly followed that with an eight-place finish in the 100 freestyle, tapping the wall in 1:33.43. In her final event of the day, the 100 backstroke, Clark posted a time of 2:01.77 and finished in seventh.

Salem will now turn its attention to the Sun Coast Conference Championships, which take place from February 9-12 in Fort Pierce, Fla.
