FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Salem swim team concluded the Sun Coast Conference Championship with a solid final day of performances from the trio of Kylie Clark, Abigail Hawkins and Olivia Nivens in Fort Pierce, Fla.

Clark, who represented Salem as an Academic All-Conference honoree, posted a personal-best time of 1:26.08 in the 100 freestyle, placing 15th overall. She qualified for the finals after posting a time of 1:26.55 in the preliminaries. She posted her best time in the event in the first split, where she touched the wall in 39.55. She achieved Academic All-Conference status by maintaining a 3.5 GPA or better during the 2021 Fall Semester.

Hawkins was also responsible for a personal-best in the 200 backstroke, posting a time of 3:18.44 in the finals. After a prelims time of 3:19.25, Hawkins earned an 11th-place finish with a time of 44.02 at the first split.

Nivens came through with a time of 3:39.12 in the finals of the 200 breaststroke, placing 11th. That topped her preliminaries time of 3:44.50 and established a new personal best.

"Our team quote for this meet was—We came! We swam! We conquered," said head coach Vavina Lapham. "We conquered and achieved our personal best at our first conference meet. I am very proud of all that we achieved this weekend."
