Tennis: 2017 Season Recap

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College tennis team wrapped up their 2017 season with a 6-11 overall record. The Spirits were 3-7 at home and 3-4 on the road, and they went 1-6 in the USA South. The Spirits finished tied for sixth in the USA South West Division.

Head Coach Ed Steele said, "Salem tennis had a challenging season, with some close matches that could have gone either way. We look to keep building on the success that we experienced." 

The team had one senior, DeAnna Wilkins, who played the whole season at the #1 singles position and finished 6-7 overall. First-year, Makenna Mason, had the best record at 7-6 in singles play. She played at the #2 position. Wilkins and Grace Wilson teamed to go 4-7 at the #1 singles position.

"All the players look forward to returning for next year's team," said Steele. "We look forward to making the conference tournament next year."
