RALEIGH, N.C. – The Salem tennis team capitalized on two points from three different players, earning its first team victory of the USA South Conference slate by downing William Peace by a 7-2 margin in Raleigh, N.C., on Tuesday afternoon.

The Spirits evened their mark to 1-1 in league action and picked up their fourth win of the season, all of which have come on the road.

William Peace claimed one of its two points in the match in No. 1 doubles as the tandem of Camryn Straughn and Kala Price delivered an 8-3 victory over Adley Keim and Mariana Faint. However, Salem responded with two points at both the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.

The team of Cadence Durham and Abrielle Eckenroth posted an 8-0 win in No. 2 doubles over Mya Sampson and Haley George for the Spirits. Meanwhile, teammates Alana Bridges and Emily Griffis delivered an 8-0 victory against Jasseli Gutierrez and Erica McRay in No. 3 doubles.

The second point from the Pacers came from Price in No. 1 singles, who fought past Keim in three sets to claim a 6-3, 0-6, 10-4 win. Faint rebounded from a setback in doubles to deliver a 6-4, 6-4 victory in No. 2 singles against Straughn.

Durham claimed her fourth singles win of the season, second in her last three matches, in No. 3 singles by downing Sampson by scores of 6-0, 6-2. Bridges equaled her teammate's performance, and tied Durham and Keim for most singles victories on the season, by posting a 6-2, 6-2 win over George in fourth-seeded singles.

Eckenroth laid claim to her second point of the season in No. 5 singles, posting a 6-2, 6-1 win over Gutierrez. The Spirits also received a point from Jessea James, who grabbed the first singles victory of her collegiate career with a straight set win (6-0, 6-0) against Erica McRay.
