SPIRITS COMPLETE MARCH SLATE VERSUS LEAGUE FOE PFEIFFER
The Salem tennis team will put the finishing touches on its March schedule with a home match against USA South Conference foe Pfeiffer.

Saturday's match at the Bert Lain Tennis Center against the Falcons, presents Salem with the opportunity to finish with three wins and move to .500 on the season. It would also move the Spirits' record to 2-1 in the USA South Conference after a 7-2 victory in Raleigh, N.C., on Tuesday afternoon.

SALEM CLAIMS 7-2 WIN AT WILLIAM PEACE
The Salem tennis team capitalized on two points from three different players, earning its first team victory of the USA South Conference slate by downing William Peace by a 7-2 margin in Raleigh, N.C., on Tuesday afternoon.

The Spirits evened their mark to 1-1 in league action and picked up their fourth win of the season, all of which have come on the road.

William Peace claimed one of its two points in the match in No. 1 doubles as the tandem of Camryn Straughn and Kala Price delivered an 8-3 victory over Adley Keim and Mariana Faint. However, Salem responded with two points at both the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.

The team of Cadence Durham and Abrielle Eckenroth posted an 8-0 win in No. 2 doubles over Mya Sampson and Haley George for the Spirits. Meanwhile, teammates Alana Bridges and Emily Griffis delivered an 8-0 victory against Jasseli Gutierrez and Erica McRay in No. 3 doubles.

The second point from the Pacers came from Price in No. 1 singles, who fought past Keim in three sets to claim a 6-3, 0-6, 10-4 win. Faint rebounded from a setback in doubles to deliver a 6-4, 6-4 victory in No. 2 singles against Straughn.

Durham claimed her fourth singles win of the season, second in her last three matches, in No. 3 singles by downing Sampson by scores of 6-0, 6-2. Bridges equaled her teammate's performance, and tied Durham and Keim for most singles victories on the season, by posting a 6-2, 6-2 win over George in fourth-seeded singles.

Eckenroth laid claim to her second point of the season in No. 5 singles, posting a 6-2, 6-1 win over Gutierrez. The Spirits also received a point from Jessea James, who grabbed the first singles victory of her collegiate career with a straight set win (6-0, 6-0) against Erica McRay.

BREAKING DOWN SALEM AS MARCH CONCLUDES
Entering the final weekend of March, Salem has five individuals with at least three singles victories, including the quartet of Alana Bridges, Cadence Durham, Mariana Faint and Adley Keim, who are responsible for four singles victories apiece.

The tandem of Faint and Keim have delivered five doubles wins for the Spirits, all from the No. 1 seed, while Durham has paired with Abrielle Eckenroth to win three straight doubles matches, two of which came as the No. 3 seed.
-Bridges has won two of her last three matches, posting a No. 5 singles win over Joyce Tate (Columbia) and a win in No. 4 singles against Haley Georgia (William Peace), which moved her to four wins on the season.
-Like Bridges, Durham has also provided Salem with two singles wins in her last three matches. Durham posted her two points in No. 3 singles, taking down Aniya Sims (Columbia) and Mya Sampson (William Peace) along the way.
-Keim was the first to reach four singles wins on the season, winning her first four singles outings of the season. Three of those victories for the Indiana first-year came in the fall slate and the most recent singles win came in the first match of the season, against Ferrum, with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Morgan Hundley.
-Eckenroth joined forces with Durham in a clash with Sweet Briar on February 25th, when the two earned an 8-5 victory. The two followed with an 8-4 win against Methodist and an 8-0 victory over William Peace.

ANALYZING PFEIFFER 2023-24 | 9-3 / 1-3 USA South
Salem All-Time (vs. Pfeiffer): Pfeiffer is 6-0 all-time in its series with Salem, earning an 8-1 victory a season ago when the two units clashed in Misenheimer, N.C., on April 1st. The most points for the Spirits in a single match with Pfeiffer cam on September 17, 2022, when Salem tallied four points in a 5-4 setback.

In 2024, Pfeiffer brings a 9-3 record and a 1-3 mark in the USA South into its clash with Salem on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons have won two of their last three outings, including a 7-2 win over Johnson & Wales (March 22) and a 9-0 victory against Mary Baldwin (March 16).

Haley Ingenito is responsible for the most singles win on the season, 16, earning eight as the Falcons' No. 3 seed. Teammate Kristen Colie has the second-most singles victories (13), while Riley Isley and Megan Rekieta have 11 singles victories apiece.

The top doubles team for Pfeiffer is Rekieta and Alison Sloop, who have 11 victories to their credit.
