Winston-Salem, NC- The Salem College Volleyball Team earned its second victory of the season tonight as they defeated Guilford College in 5 games 18-30, 30-20, 24-30, 31-29, 15-13. The largest crowd of the season went crazy as the final point was secured at the Spirit Coliseum. The Quakers of Guilford (6-19) looked as if they had taken control of the match after the third game, but the Spirits dug in deep and denied Guilford in an exciting fourth game 31-29. Salem led most of the fifth and deciding game to bring the fans out on the floor as the final point was in Salem’s favor.

Christine Tillman (FY, King, NC) led the Spirits with 17 kills and 21 digs. Whitney Sorenson (Jr., Glendale, AZ) had 16 kills and 12 digs. Katie Lineberger (Jr., Maiden, NC) had 12 kills and 17 digs. Tani Hatch (FY, Salt Lake City, UT) had 7 kills and 3 digs. Anna Maia (Jr., Montgomery, AL) had 4 kills and 6 digs.

The volleyball team will travel to Virginia on Thursday to play Randolph College.
