Salem Volleyball Splits at Home

Winston-Salem, NC- The Salem College volleyball team picked up their first win of the season in their first home match last Saturday against Spelman. The Spirits hosted a tri-match, splitting the two matches with Spelman and Montreat.

Salem (1-6) defeated Spelman in four sets 23-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-17 in their afternoon match. In the night game, the Spirits fell to Montreat 19-25, 8-25, 12-25.

Christine Tillman led the team with 19 total kills against Spelman and Montreat. Katie Lineberger also contributed 16 kills. Stephanee Thibodeaux had the most blocks with 11 on the day. Sara Maher had a productive day, leading the team with 5 aces and 23 assists in the two matches.

"I am happy that we picked up our first win of the season against Spelman," said Coach Amanda Ziemba. "We served well and Sydney Sweet had a great day. 

The Spirits will return to the Salem College Court on Tuesday as they face off against Peace College at 7 pm.
