Volleyball Comeback Falls Short to Peace

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College volleyball team fell in four sets to Peace College tonight 25-23, 16-25, 14-25, 22-25. Salem took the early lead in the match with a strong first game, but Peace was able to take the next two. The fourth game proved to be the most exciting of the night as the Salem squad fought back from a 9-20 deficit to close Peace's lead to 22-23.  The Pacers held off the Spirit attack securing the match with a 22-25 fourth set win.

Katie Lineberger (Maiden, NC) performed well for the Spirits with 12 kills, 5 blocks, and 10 digs. Sara Maher (Longmont, CO) provided 12 assists for the Spirits. Sydney Sweet (Charlotte, NC) also had 7 assists. Christine Tillman (King, NC) led the team in service aces with 3, and she also provided 2 blocks and 13 kills. Stephanee Thibodeaux (Jacksonville, NC) also had a strong night with 4 blocks.  Salem's record fell to 1-7, while Peace improved to 4-2.

Salem hits the road this weekend for the "Smart Women Sweat Tournament" hosted by Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA. The Spirits will play Spelman, Peace, and Agnes Scott.
