Volleyball Loses to Methodist in Four Games

October 24, 2008

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College volleyball team fell in four games tonight to Methodist University (8-25, 19-25, 25-17, 14-25). Salem hosted the Side-Out Foundation's Dig Pink, which gives charity to Breast Cancer Research. Salem falls to 10-18 and Methodist improves to 15-10.

Katie Lineberger (Maiden, NC) led the team with 11 digs. Nicole Swinney (Woodlawn, VA) had a team high 7 aces. Christine Tillman (King, NC) had the most blocks with 3, and kills with 11. Sara Maher (Longmont, CO) led the team with 21 assists.

"Methodist is a very solid team," said Head Coach Amanda Ziemba. "We came out very slow and tentative and they jumped to an early lead. Once we got our composure back we started making plays and being more aggressive. Last time we played Methodist, we did not serve or receive well at all. This time we did much better. I am very proud of our team today, although we did not win the match we had a small victory, in the fact that we did not stop fighting and playing hard. The team kept pushing and pushing and sometimes that is the only difference in winning and losing. Tomorrow is another day!"

Salem returns to the court on the 25th of October as they host the Spirit Classic.
