Volleyball loses first match in a close battle with EMU

Harrisonburg, VA-The Salem College volleyball team lost their first match of the season against Eastern Mennonite University in the EMU Hampton Inn & Sleep Inn Invitational. Salem won the second set and was close in two of the three sets they lost. EMU ended up winning in four sets (24-26, 25-22, 14-25, 25-23). Salem falls to 0-1 on the season, and EMU improves to 1-0.

Randi Roppolo (Weeki Wachee, FL) led the Spirits with 9 kills and she also had 11 digs and 2 block assists. Brittany Miller (Hays, NC) and Chelsea Jones (Glade Valley, NC) also had 11 kills. Jones also led the Spirits with 22 set assists. Playing in her first match for Salem, Ty Graham (Pink Hill, NC) had 7 kills, 1 block, and 2 block assists. Tabitha Bowman had a match-high 15 kills for EMU.

Salem returns to action tonight in another non-conference match at the EMU Invitational against Catholic.
