Volleyball splits conference matches at home

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College volleyball team split a pair of Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) matches this weekend at home. The Spirits cruised to a 3-0 (25-4, 25-12, 25-10) victory against Wesleyan, before falling in a hard-fought match against Huntingdon 1-3 (25-17, 24-26, 16-25, 23-25). Salem finishes conference play in 7th place with a 1-6 conference record, and they are now 4-22 overall.

Brittani Stewart (Mocksville, NC) and Randi Roppolo (Weeki Wachee, FL) each had 8 kills to lead Salem against Wesleyan. Stewart also led the team with 1.5 blocks. Brittany Miller (Hays, NC) had 14 digs for Salem, and she also provided 4 service aces. Chelsea Jones (Glade Valley, NC) led the Spirits against Wesleyan with 16 set assists and 6 service aces.

In the match against Huntingdon, Hart Wagner (Winston-Salem, NC) led the team with 12 kills, 3 service aces, and 26 digs. Stewart had 2.5 blocks, and Jones had 21 set assists.

The Spirits return to the road on the 25th when they travel to take on North Carolina Wesleyan at 7:00.
