WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (11/07/14) -- Host #1 Salem College defeated #8 Trinity Washington University comfortably, 3-0, in the Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) quarterfinals. The 25-11, 25-8, 25-8 victory earned the number one seed a spot in conference tournament semi-finals.
Salem's first-year standout Kylie Taffer had a game-high eight kills and hit an impressive .429. Bernisha Master added seven kills and Hillary McPhatter had six. Setter Taylor Rhodes had a game-high 17 assists and added 11 digs and three kills in the contest. Libero Zykeya Henderson led the floor with 18 digs.
Sarai Burnett and Ameyna Saunders-Jackson led Trinity with four kills apiece. Shamara Bell had 10 digs in the effort.
Salem takes on the winner of Wesleyan University and Mills College tomorrow, November 8, at 3:00 pm in the tournament's semi-final match. The winner of will go on to play for the GSAC title at 5:30 pm.
