Chelsey Stewart, who serves as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Internal Operations / SWA, joined Salem College athletics in August 2018.

As she begins her second year with the program, Stewart oversees the department’s budget, compliance and is transitioning into the role of Senior Women’s Administrator for the 2019-20 season. She has been active in all phases of the athletic department’s role on campus including facilities, information technology and admissions.

Prior to joining the staff at Salem, Stewart was the Development Manager for Special Events at the Second Harvest Food Bank (SHFB) of Northwest North Carolina from January 2017 through August 2018. In that capacity she executed fundraisers such as the Tee Off Against Hunger Golf Tournament and Empty Bowls. Stewart implemented specific practices which resulted in additional participation and event revenue while maintaining expense budgets with direct accountability for goals existing in the annual budget.

Stewart’s work with the SHFB’s marketing department allowed for the promotion of the PTI Run on the Runway, Empty Bowls, Tee Off Against Hunger and Running of the Bulls events through social media, public relations and marketing efforts.

Stewart earned her bachelor of science degree in sport management, along with minors in non-profit management and dance, from Guilford College in May 2013.

Shortly thereafter Stewart assumed the role of Office Administrator at the Greensboro Sports Commission where she managed and assigned volunteers for events including the USA Swimming Winter Nationals, ODAC Swimming Championships, SoCon Men’s Soccer Championships, NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships as well as the ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament, ACC Women’s Golf Tournament, ACC Baseball Championships and ACC Swimming & Diving Championships.

Along with those assignments, Stewart planned and prepared materials for the USA Rugby Seven’s Championships and NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships.

She returned to Guilford College in September 2015, serving as the Business Manager in Department of Athletics. Stewart oversaw the budget management while assisting the Athletic Director on a day-to-day basis while processing business requests for 17 sports, five administrative units and the Physical Education Center.

Stewart earned the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award from Guilford College in 2013, presented to the individual who was active in community service for those that suffer from poverty.

She is married to Lee Stewart.
