The Salem Department of Athletics capped off its 2023-24 athletic season with a banquet held in Varsity Gym, located on the Salem Campus, on Thursday, April 25th. The banquet honored the student-athletes for their individual contributions over the course of the year.
This week, from April 1-6, the NCAA national office is celebrating NCAA Division III week. We in Salem College Athletics will be doing the same, to honor our student-athletes and their contributions to the program, campus community as well as the region, nation and world.
The completion of the 2023 fall semester saw 39 student-athletes earn Dean’s List honors at Salem College. A student must maintain a minimum 3.5 grade point average in a minimum of 12 courses to earn this distinction.
Southern Virginia, which earned the No. 1 overall seed in the USA South Tournament, notched its ninth shutout of the season against a league opponent as the Knights posted a 3-0 victory over Salem in the opening round conference tournament.

The Battling Bishops currently occupy eighth place, accruing three points with a 1-6 mark in league play, giving them the one-point edge in the league standings over Salem.

The Spirits make the trek to Pfeiffer on Saturday, October 21st, looking to earn their first USA South Conference victory of the 2023 season. It is one of two remaining road matches on the docket for Salem, who will head to N.C. Wesleyan on October 25th before completing the regular season with a match against Greensboro.
